5 affirmations for when the world feels dark

Sometimes, no matter how much of a positive, strong, faithful, beautiful human you are, you might be hurting today. For a myriad of reasons.



It might be toward the world and systems of oppression, hate, evil, selfishness, and greed all around us.


Or maybe it's a deep emotional pain. A trauma we won't ever understand, or know like you do. Or maybe it's physical pain. Fleeting or chronic.


Whatever it might be, I invite you to take a deep breath with me. And give yourself some space. And then read these affirmations below. In your head. Or out-loud. Or with your arms open as you let the tears fall.


  1. Today, I choose to heal.

  2. I allow myself to feel what I'm feeling fully.

  3. I can still see love in the world.

  4. I will speak out about the things that matter.

  5. I will use my story, my hurt for good.



You matter. Your story matters. How you feel right now matters.
